State of Threat Modeling (SOTM) Report

Share your insights and shape the State of Threat Modeling (SOTM) Report 2024—a community-led report on trends, challenges, and best practices in Threat Modeling.

About the State of Threat Modeling (SOTM) Report

The SOTM Report is the first community-driven industry report on threat modeling, developed by members of the Threat Modeling Connect (TMC) community, independent of any vendors.

The initiative will be fueled by the collective insights of threat modeling professionals, gathered through the State of Threat Modeling Survey (the SOTM 2024 Survey is open now through April 18, 2025).

Together, we aim to:
Share real-world approaches to common threat modeling challenges
Establish industry benchmarks based on real practitioners’ experiences
Identify emerging trends and best practices shaped by practitioners

Your voice shapes the future

The SOTM report is only possible with input from threat modeling practitioners like you. By taking the SOTM 2024 Survey, you will:
Help define the current state of threat modeling
Contribute to data-driven insights that benefit your threat modeling practices and the entire industry
Set benchmarks and identify trends that you (and others) can reference to validate or refine threat modeling efforts

When will the report be available?

The State of Threat Modeling (SOTM) Report 2024 will be published at the end of May 2025. Sign up to receive a report when it’s available.
